# About Me

A little about myself

My name is Lorenzo Pappalettera, I am currently twenty three years old and live in the Netherlands. My family where I grew up in consists of six people: My father, my mother, my two brothers, my little sister and of course me. My one real hobby is computing, I do it literally every day as there is always something to do. At this very moment I am a simple Front-end Web Developer, which is a fancy way of saying that I'm neither a designer nor a developer but sort of both. I am and always have been a tireless seeker of knowledge and I love the logic and structure of coding. I have a big passion for perfection and always strive to write elegant and efficient code, whether it is HTML, PHP, JavaScript or other coding languages.

I would like to develop my own professional websites, programs and especially beautiful games of any kind in the future. I hope that one day I will achieve these goals in my life. If I can make others happy with the work I do then of course I will be very happy too! In my spare time I play a little bit guitar, work on my projects, educate myself and also try out many different games. I am, what is colloquially known as, a massive nerd.

# Experience

My experience over the past few years

Let's start off with what I seek in a company. I'd like to see a company that cares about its developers. A company that allows me to develop. A company that allows me to continue my learning. I'd like a team environment where I might have a mentor that could help me out when I get stuck or need guidance. Most importantly, I want to be creating something meaningful. Something that will add value to the world.

I love challenges. I want to be part of a team that is disrupting the way things are. Give me a challenge, a place to work, a team to work with, oh and money is always nice too. Most importantly, I want to be around passionate people. People passionate about coding. Passionately passionate people. Yes.

I haven't worked for anyone yet though as I am still studying but I do have started my own company called MystTech which works on browser based MMORPGs. The first one will be my current project "Mysterious Online". MMORPG stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game.

# Skills

My progression of stuff I've worked with

I have been learning about HTML, CSS, PHP, MySql and Photoshop on my last completed training course apart from all the boring stuff haha and I will now be learning new languages such as C#, C++, HTML5, CSS3 and some more at my next training course. The rest I will be trying to learn on my own because I simply like those scripting and/or programming languages very much! I also hope they will become useful someday.

HTML & CSS
jQuery
JavaScript
PHP & MySql
Photoshop
VBScript
Perl
C#
C++
  • More will come soon.. (such as C, Java or Assembly)
  • You can always do a proposal on something you think I would like to learn!
  • If you like to do so, please do not hesitate to contact me.

# Education

What I have been studying

I started with the IT Management Assistant training course at MBO level 3 (the abbreviation "MBO" stands for middle-level applied education), while normally you should begin with MBO level 1 or 2 when you just graduated at VMBO-BB (the abbreviation "VMBO-BB" stands for basic profession-oriented learning path of the preparatory middle-level vocational education). But my grades were pretty high so they made me start at MBO level 3 immediately.

I've learned quite a bit of everything there which could come in handy in the future as I work a lot with computers and I even managed to graduate. So that's great! However, an IT job was not the kind of occupation I wanted. My main goal simply was to graduate so that I can start with the thing I would really love to learn more about.

At first I thought I would be doing the Game Design training course but after much thinking, I went with the Game Development training course. Which is what I am learning more about at the moment. Why? You may ask, well because I love those meaningful codes way more than some fancy designs, although I wish I could master myself in both. But I don't think that is going to happen.

My goals for the future are to start working, learning new skills and developing the ones I already master.
